In July 2010 21 volunteers came to Guatemala to help construct a school in La Puerta near Santa Apolonia. At the end of five days of work side-by-day the collaborative effort yielded 52 finished rebar columns and a foundation dug for three class rooms and a library. The school opened in the fall semester of the 2010-2011 school year.
Beginning in late June 2011 the village of Paxixil broke ground for a new school building. They worked on a two room school house, but with 146 children an additional four rooms were needed. Mid July a group of 25 volunteers arrived from the United States. Organized through Seekers Church the group donated $11,000 and provided a week of sweat equity to the project.
After the successful expansion of their school in 2011, the village participated in a community library project. They enthusiastically asked for the building of a community library for their children. They worked with PAVA to acquire land and an architect volunteered the design.
